I tried installing windows 7 > then the VooDoo IOS > then linux mint, to see if the grub would get updated automatically to include the Voodoo IOS, but had no luck...
if we could get the IOS to install in a pendrive and have it excluded from windows, it could be posible to launch it with a simple syslinux... I think...

So I finally retired my time tested first gen logitech g9 for a g700s.

g700s is a very nice mouse. Just because the g9 is retired dosnt mean its done. I am thinking rebuilding it is going to make a damn good project. Mechnically the mouse is still perfect. Everything clicks as it should. The mouse has had a scratch on m1 since I got it, It was a discounted open box item. Other then that the mouse has a lot of wear from using it steady since about 2007ish. None of that should matter as I really want to go all out on it and give it a custom paint job using automotive paint.

Rubber part on the scroll wheel is super worn and the silver coating is coming off revealing a copper color underneath. I have a mint scroll wheel on a donor alienware tactx (by logitech) and according to my research I believe it is the same wheel just chrome plated. The hyperglide skates just arrived today. I am kind of glad because painting it will put an end to the problem of the finish melting off of it in my hand once and for all, Damn shotty logitech products.

And the g700s

I have been displeased with the black levels on my syncmaster sa550 since I got it. Yesterday I had a problem with a horizontal green line through the display so I got to looking into it. I changed the resolution as part of my troubleshooting and noticed I had the black level I had always wanted at a lower resolution which made me even more pissed so I got to looking into it and there is an option in the monitors osd that is only available when it is getting a 1080p signal. Shame on samsung for shipping these out with it set on a non optimal default. There is absolutely no comparison in how vivid the picture is now. Skyrim looks amazing.

And oddly enough the line through the picture went away when I unplugged the hdmi cable and moved it around a bit. It is either this cheap quality hdmi to mini hdmi adapter or the hdmi cable was sitting too close to a power cable which was causing interference.

Either way I am glad it motivated me to get the black level set as it should be. I always chalked it up to that the panel itself was supplied to samsung by a cheap quality vendor (you guys know how washed out the cheaper panels look) Now it its on par with the sharpness and clarity of our samsung tv.

I am a very happy samsung customer, They loose a couple of points for the non optimal default setting though.

What mods if any are you running in skyrim? I started playing it on the pc last time home. Time before that I played my xbox version, then steam had a sale, lol. I took a "alternate" copy of the game with me so I didn't have to worry about wanting to connect as steam can never connect on the rig. I got it working on my CF-19 Toughbook Mk3 (1.2 core 2 duo, intel 4500, 4gb of ram) on low. Working on some mods to get the FPS up. It has lag on fight sceens.

I had brought also my Alienware M9750 with work also for skyrim, well I haven't used it in about a year and half. Since I got the Hexx anyway. After a few updates and software changes it appears the video card went puff on it. I could do the oven trick on it, but I have no thermal paste to replace it. I maybe able to find a used thermal pad from some old equipment. Not sure how good that would work.

So either next hitch it looks like I will be bringing my m11x back with me, or I will be building another mini itx build for work in a smaller case. Just not sure what APU I should go with. On the A10-6800k I can play on high no problem, I haven't tried ultra, the auto detect said high was good. When I get the higher speed ram (2133 vs 1600) I will be testing ultra out. And the newly released APU is based on the newer R7 chips. Suppose to be about 30% better on the graphics. Since I was going to a smaller case if I do, do that build I was thinking about getting the a8-7600. 65 watt vs 95 watt with the same graphics as the new top dog in APU line the A10-7850. I was hoping the lower power draw would mean less heat. The A8-7600 is not out yet, think it's going to be around mid year, I won't be waiting that long.

Waiting on my latest acquisition to arrive. Traded a pair of vintage Shimano vbrake ST-EF28 shifters I came upon recently to help pay for it.

Roz if you see this I am curious as to the history of this zip up. Do you happen to know if it was made for CES one year?

I actually completely uninstalled Skyrim a few weeks ago, partly because I was doing some cleanup and had not even opened up the game in months, and partly out of a desire to cleanup all my mods. I have been GOGing like a madman lately and have download tons of new stuff -- most recently all three Stalkers for $14.97 -- but at some point I am going to want to reinstall Skyrim and start a game from scratch. When I do, I am going to have to spend nearly as much time researching the mods again as I do playing the game. I had at least one minor graphical conflict between two that led to an occasional glitch with lanterns. From a graphical standpoint, it would be wonderful if there was one set of guaranteed, iron-clad mods that you could install with no conflicts on any system. But if all of our systems were the same, we would not be PC gamers!

Well unless I can find some thermal pads or thermal paste I won't be playing the M9750 this hitch. I can do the oven trick on the card to temp fix it, but I have no thermal paste with me to replace the dried out paste, guess that is why it was running warmer than usual the last time I played it. It's been over a year since I had turned it on.

Well, I didn't want you to be disappointed. I'm reliable that way.

Funny thing about the Voodoo Ts is that the only one I liked was the The Next Bench T that King helped source and Photo helped distribute. It is actually a quality T!

yup American Shirt I still have wear it regularly and still looks good.

Only disappointment is the lack of windows lock on the choc 2m despite being advertised. Just need to find the program I was using on the model M to remap keys so I can disable the windows key.

noppoo choc mini 2m. I love this thing. I have the variant with cherry mx red switches. It is also available with black blue and browns I believe depending on your personal preference.

Also has built in wireless and comes with the IR receiver. I wish it was just regular Bluetooth though,  I want to use it with my galaxy note 2.

Metal wasd keys are a universal set i picked up off ebay for cherry based keyboards. I like to feel the difference when I am playing plus I have a tendancy to wear wasd keys. This solves both problems.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181246171055 - Worth it imo

Used sharpkeys to disable the windows key.

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=R257644 - curious to see if that works on non dell systems. asus has there own version of face login software as well. Have not tried it on a non asus laptop though.

I think I still have that 6600 or 6800 video card. I kept the 7800 cards in the two working machines, but still have some spare parts around. Sent you a pm yesterday. Not sure if you noticed it or not yet.
