Welcome ... and More

Post  OEB on Fri Sep 10, 2010 2:59 pm

Hi there! Well I must admit I'm shocked but very pleasantly surprised at the activity here. I had no idea people were here! I'm glad that this has been somewhat useful so far.

I created this place because I rather enjoyed talking to most of you (notice the word "most" Wink ) and wanted to keep the conversation going in some manner and form. So here we are.

Rules - there are none. There is no ban hammer. You would have to be a complete dick to get banned here, and only after many folks complained. Just use your best judgment please. I would ask that folks use general conventions, i.e. if there's questionable material or links please indicate with NSFW (not safe for work) or some other warning.

There is a moderators group that some are you are a part of - I believe this just happened randomly (I didn't plan it that way) but I approve and trust that they will do the right thing. Also I'm not sure what moderator means for this board - I have no idea what you can or can't do. But feel free to do what needs to be done.

I'll try to participate more and stop by as much as I can. If you need something - feel free to ping me.

That's it. Thanks for coming and I look forward to continuing where we left of. Enjoy and cheers!

Ok I turned on points, reputation and a chat box that's visible on the home page (http://refugees.makingforum.com/forum.htm)

The + / - are a bit hard to see on the right of the messages - and I'm not sure I like the idea of a "-"

Let me know what you think. jocolor

Do we still call you Frosty, or just Admin now?

Activity has grown steadily since you set us up. Thank you. I think I can speak for most in saying we really appreciate it. And do stop by more.

Agreed. Stop by once in a while!

I need to explore the changes that you made, but I am too tired tonight. I will check things out tomorrow.

There was a dude who worked at Disneyland, his name was Admn. Thought it was the department he worked for, for a while, when they called his name.

As far as moderators go, it appears that we can edit posts, delete them or view IP addresses. But there has been no need to do any of that, of course.

I want to think a bit about your categorization ideas. I may have some other suggestions.

Wow -- agreeing with the range of possibilites covered by that elipsis leaves enough openings to boggle the mind!

No, but I felt the need to revist the sketch that I made a frighteningly obscure reference to:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0poi3sIkSa8&feature=related

That is taken from their "Good Morning" album. Here is a live version (that looks like it must have been from one of the Prince's Trust shows.) It is missing one of my favorite jokes, however -- the one about his wife not being a well woman. On the other hand, Cook cracks Moore up a few times (and even himself once.)

Ah, yes. I was able to open and see what you're referring to. Classic.

Unfortunately, I had to shut it down midway through, but I will go back and watch tomorrow evening when I will have a bit of time to myself.

The couple with whom we are staying had some friends over, one of whom was a retired driving instructor. I asked him if he had ever heard Bob Newheart's driving instructor bit, and he had not!
