Re: Blackberry apps

I waited for a long time for T-Mobile to finally get a good Android phone with a good quality slide-out keyboard (the G2) and then discovered Swype and have never used the keyboard once. True story.

I don't have the models confused, but that's not to say I didn't write a confusing post!

Once you get the hang of it, it is mighty fast. I can definitely Swype faster than I can thumb type on a cell phone keyboard.

The G2 has a full keyboard, and I can Swype much faster than thumb typing on the real keys. Neither one of them compares to touch typing on a full size keyboard, if that is what you were referring to.

I ended up the logical choice, Nexus S 4G

Iago you are right it's so nice with swype, I had to download the beta version since it was not supported on my phone.

Can't believe how far along android came from their G1.

Most people to whom I have shown Swype have quickly fallen in love with it. I highly suggest going through the tutorial -- once you learn the tricks, you can swype most words without ever having your finger leave the keyboard.

Time to make the leap to Android! Or, you could go the Windows Phone 7 approach and let us know how it works out.

The Galaxy SII interests me, and Samsung put out a gutsy ad to promote it:

Seamaster, that's a very nice phone but it's too big. Take a look at the Nexus S 4G (sprint)or Nexus S (from other carriers). It's only a 4 inch screen which is perfect IMO and also has a curved display so when you put it away in your back pocket it fits the curve of your ass. I don't like cell phones where it looks as if I'm always happy to see you.

Nexus S 4g might be a little out dated, but it fits my needs it's only a single core at 1ghz vs. all the dual cores out there. As long you don't have to many widgets it would run fine. I currently have 3 widgets running touchdown(work email and calendar), google calendar (personal) and google search box. And it runs just fine. The nexus S replaced my blackberry and Itouch4. BTW anyone looking to buy a itouch4 64gb..... cheers Currently the phone can be had for free or 50 dollars depending which carrier you go with. Nufff said.

Currently favorites apps are Netflix, Evernote, Keepass, Easytether, Tapatalk and Iheartradio.

Great camera apps Pano, and paper camera got those for 10 cents when when google celebrated it's billionathhhhhhssss downloads in the market place.

I'll have to do some looking around to see what interests me. The larger phone doesn't worry me so much, so long as I can get a holster or case for it. After having a BlackBerry, I don't think I can be bothered with carrying a phone in my pocket again, which is odd, because I used to laugh at people with phone holsters.

So people are talking about me, and not in a good way?!

I checked out the Galaxy SII, and blur is right -- it is quite big for a phone. The demo model I picked up was also beaten up, so it didn't look quit as shiny as it could have. Nevertheless, the processing power is appealing.
