Goodbye, part of my very soul

I can think of few others who were as foundational to me as I was growing up. Seriously, I cannot even think of a teacher who impacted me like Harryhausen's films did. To say nothing of the fact that he was one of the absolutely nicest men in the business. I have an outstanding documentary about him on laserdisc, …

The Undying Zombie Thread

Fri Mar 08, 2013 6:04 pm by Seamaster

Thought we deserved a zombie thread. We will see if it has any legs.

I'm unable to provide a working link right now, but to kick off the thread, visit youtube and check out Chainsaw Maid. There are three parts, but the original episode is the best.

The miscellaneous Blu-Ray/DVD thread

Thu Mar 14, 2013 4:30 pm by Iago

Since Seamaster and I always end up sidetracking with discussions about upcoming films in whatever thread we are using, I thought that I would make a miscellaneous dump thread for anything like that. And I have a big one to dump for starters: I know that Seamaster is not a big Kaiju fan, but as a native of the UK he may appreciate Great Britian's one major contribution to the genre: the 1961 …

The New Other Bench Audiophile Thread, astonishing arrogance edition

Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:17 pm by Iago

In addition to the fact that his threadbare description of the listening test makes it pretty clear that it made no attempt at any form of …

Pacific Rim

Guillermo del Toro + kaiju + mecha + Idris Elba + the voice of GLADOS = I am so, so there!

One thing that impresses me in the trailer: at least in those brief clips, the monsters and the mecha have a real sense of scale. One of my biggest beefs with CGI is that way that creatures seem to lack a feeling of mass, weight and size, partly because the animators …[/flash(425,350)]

Voodoo Envy 133 Trouble

Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:35 am by Tippalo

Hey Guys,

I've had a Voodoo Envy 133 for a little while here and just today I figured I'd install an SSD to make it boot faster (had the 4200rpm drive). I got the right drive, opened up the laptop (which was a pain), installed it, and put it back together, but I'm having a problem with the wireless. The wireless card doesn't seem to work, or, appears to be turned off (as if I were to disable it …
